Patients Appointments

Monday - Thursday:   8:00 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Appointment Scheduling

We attempt to schedule appointments at your convenience and when time is available.  Young children are best to schedule for morning appointments as they are more prepared at the start of their day.  Older children with more treatment to complete also do better with morning scheduled times. We strive to see all patients on time for their scheduled appointment.  Please plan to arrive 10 minutes or more before your appointment to allow time to complete any additional paperwork.

Since we reserve appointment times exclusively for each patient we ask that you please notify our office 48 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment if a cancellation is unavoidable.  Another patient who needs our care could be scheduled if we have sufficient time to notify them.  We realize that unexpected things can happen, but we ask for your assistance in this regard.  We reserve the right to charge a $50 cancellation fee if there are two (2) or more broken/missed appointments.

We file dental insurance as a courtesy to our patients. There is no direct relationship with your insurance company and our office.  We are not responsible for how your insurance company handles its claims or for what benefits they pay on a claim.  You are responsible for the entire account balance.  If for some reason your insurance company does not pay on a claim, you will be expected to pay it in full within 30 days of the date of treatment.  Please note that some insurance carriers will not reimburse our office directly.  In such instances you will be responsible for the full cost of each visit at the time services are provided and your insurance company will send you the reimbursement check directly.

First Visit

The American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association recommends that your child be seen for their first dental visit by the time they reach one year old. Let your child’s first tooth remind you that it’s time for them to see Dr. Bill. Early prevention and education is crucial at this time. The first visit includes a review of your child’s medical and dental history and an initial examination. The first visit includes a review of your child’s medical and dental history and an initial examination that will be reviewed with the parent.  Dr. Bill will discuss any treatment plans and instructions on oral hygiene and proper oral health care.  Dental x-rays or “pictures,” if necessary, are also taken to ensure a thorough examination.

All aspects of a preventive dental health program including diet, hygiene and fluoride will also be discussed. It is always better to make a first dental appointment before your child has a dental problem. By establishing a dental home for your children, they are more likely to receive appropriate preventive and routine oral health care as they grow from infants through their teenage years. At Burriss Pediatric Dentistry, we encourage you to be an active member of your child’s oral health care.

Discover our Difference!

Pediatric Dentistry

Dr. Bill has many years of specialized training and experience aimed at the prevention of dental disease and treatment particularly in children, meeting the dental needs of infants through adolescents.

Why Choose a Pediatric Dentist?

A pediatric patient not only has a different dentition than adults but he/she may have specific dental and behavioral needs that are unique to a child. These needs may include orthodontics, dental sealants, fluoride applications or home treatments, or just simply education in oral hygiene. In addition to treating existing dental problems, our office focuses on prevention through patient and parent education. We like to feel that you and your child do not come to our office to have their ”cavities fixed” but rather to prevent them. Our mission is to provide all of the educational tools necessary for our patients to enjoy a cavity-free future.

When a Pediatric Dentist is Board Certified it means that the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry or ABPD certifies that the dental care being provided is based on standards of excellence that lead to high quality oral health care for infants, children, adolescents and patients with special health care needs. Certification by the ABPD provides assurance to the public that a Pediatric Dentist like Dr. Bill has successfully completed accredited training and a voluntary examination process designed to continually validate the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to the delivery of quality patient care.

Types of Braces

Clear Braces

Ceramic braces are clear, allowing all the benefits of traditional metal braces while being far less noticable.

Traditional Braces

Standard metal braces are actually made of very sophisticated metals and their technology has advanced significantly over the past twenty years. We recommend traditional braces to all our patients while allowing you to choose the option that’s right for you.

After orthodontic treatment, it's important to wear your retainer to keep your teeth from shifting.

Ortho emergencies

Whether an accident happens during our normal business hours or not, know that you can call us and have your child treated promptly.

Laser Dentistry

WaterLase Dentistry

WaterLase dentistry is one of the most advanced dental treatments today. We us WaterLase patented technology that combines focused light energy with a stream of water for a highly precise, exceptionally gentle dental experience. WaterLase allows us to perform a wide range of procedures with benefits including:

Faster healing time and less trauma to teeth and gums.

Less anesthetic for most procedures.

Treating dental needs in more than one part of the mouth in one visit.

Making dental care a more relaxing experience for y

The Benefits of WaterLase Dentistry:

WaterLase dentistry uses laser energy and a gentle spray of water to perform a wide range of dental procedures without the heat, vibration and pressure associated with the dental drill. With many procedures, it’s possible to use less anesthetic, or no anesthetic at all.

We can often get you in and out of the dentist chair faster, since it’s less likely that you’ll need an injection. It’s nice to avoid that shot, isn’t it? Not using anesthetic can allow us to perform procedures that used to require more than one visit in a single appointment. Also, we can perform procedures that once meant an additional trip to a specialist, saving you even more time.

We can remove decay far more precisely than the drill. This saves more of the healthy parts of your tooth and avoids micro-fractures that the friction of a drill can cause.Saving your natural teeth can save you the discomfort and cost of bridges, dentures and implants. Even better, studies show people with natural teeth live longer.

What Can WaterLase Dentistry Do?

We may use the laser to treat your child’s gums or other soft tissues, resulting in less pain, minimal bleeding and faster healing time

Quickly and safely release upper frenum or lower frenum; such as the release of tongue tie to increase mobility of the tongue, improve speech and prevent stripping of the lingual gingiva.

Painlessly remove growths or excess tissues; such gum tissue over an un-erupted tooth, small “tissue tags” or extra tissue growths called fibromas.

If you have friends or family as nice as you,

we would love to have them as patients too!!
